Snug update

A Thoughtfully Layered Interior – Chelmsford

We were delighted to complete this recent project for a long-standing and very happy client in Chelmsford. The brief focused on enhancing both comfort and character, while ensuring each element worked seamlessly within the existing scheme.

Door Curtain

For the doorway, we created a single, thickly interlined curtain, entirely hand-stitched for a beautifully tailored finish. The curtain was designed with a triple pleat header and a soft, slightly puddled hem, adding a sense of warmth and elegance.

The combination of fabrics was carefully selected:

  • Face fabric: Linwood Stresa – Spring Green
  • Lining: Sanderson Woodland Chorus, chosen to coordinate perfectly with the client’s wallpaper

The curtain was completed with a 45mm Byron & Byron ‘Remy’ pole in Burnt Oak, providing a classic frame to the design.

Snug

Within the snug, we made hand-stitched Roman blinds in Voyage Maison ‘Sherwood Forest’, introducing texture and visual interest. Each blind was finished with a 4-inch decorative border in Ian Mankin ‘Arran – Pink’, subtly echoing the room’s curtain accents.

To complement the blinds, we also created snug curtains in the same Ian Mankin fabric. These were hand-stitched, thickly interlined, blackout lined, and finished with atriple pleat header, ensuring both practicality and a beautifully balanced look.

The scheme was completed with:

  • 48mm Estate poles in Heather with Acanthus finials by Jones Interiors
  • Rope-design curtain tiebacks in Prairie Heather by Hallis Hudson

Together, these pieces created a calm and inviting space.
